POST-OPERATIVE MANAGEMENT OF NAUSEA IN RECONSTRUCTION PATIENTS

PACU Nausea Management ONLY --

1)  Ondansetron (Zofran) dose:  0.15 mg/kg/dose up to 4 mg/dose if needed

2)  Droperidol dose:  0.005 - 0.05 mg/kg/dose IV q4-6h if needed

Reconstruction Unit Nausea Management --

1)  Trimethobenzamide (Tigan) dose:  5 mg/kg/dose PO or PR q6-8h if needed

2)  Promethazine (Phenergan) dose:  0.25mg - 1mg/kg/dose IV, PO, PR q6h if needed

Next - Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
